About the Workshop
The most powerful moments on stage often happen when nobody is speaking. Yet, for many performers, a second of silence feels like an eternity—an obstacle to be rushed through or a gap that needs to be filled with immediate dialogue.
In this intensive, 2-hour masterclass, instructor Mike Devine flips the script. You will learn to stop fearing the quiet and start weaponizing it. This workshop focuses entirely on performance pacing, stage tension, and the art of letting the unspoken do the heavy lifting in your scenes.
What You’ll Learn & Practice:
Holding the Room: How to comfortably sit in a pause without dropping the scene's energy or panic-inventing lines.
Building Tension: Utilizing physical stillness to create high-stakes anticipation that makes the audience lean in.
The Subtext Shift: Letting your physical reactions and expressions deliver the story before you ever speak a word.
Pacing Control: Learning how to manipulate the rhythm of a scene to maximize both comedic and dramatic impact.
Who Is This For?
This workshop is open to all actors, improvisers, and variety artists looking to break out of conversational rhythms, gain better structural control over their performance pacing, and build deep trust with their stage partners.
Space is Strictly Limited: To ensure every single participant gets dedicated stage time, direct coaching, and personalized feedback, enrollment for this session is capped.
