About the Workshop
Great performance isn’t about inventing a clever plot on the fly—it’s about living truthfully inside a fictional reality. When a scene feels stuck or superficial, the solution isn’t a better punchline; it’s deeper stakes.
In this intensive 2-hour workshop, instructor Patrick Stinson introduces core elements of the Stanislavski system tailored specifically for immediate use on stage. You will learn how to stop "indicating" emotions to the audience and instead build a rich, unshakeable internal reality that dictates genuine character behavior.
What You’ll Learn & Practice:
The Magic If: How to train your brain to stop overthinking and instead ask: "How would I genuinely act if I found myself in this exact situation?"
Mining the Given Circumstances: How to instantly lock onto the unshakeable facts of a scene (the who, when, where, and what) and let them anchor your choices.
Objectives & Physical Actions: How to define your character's primal human need (to protect, to demand validation, to escape) and use concrete physical tactics to get it.
Public Solitude: Exercises to strip away the pressure to "entertain" and focus entirely on your onstage partner and your character's immediate task.
Who Is This For?
This workshop is perfect for improvisers looking to ground their scenes in real emotional stakes, as well as actors wanting a fast, reliable toolkit to build instant character urgency without a script.
Space is Strictly Limited: To ensure every participant gets dedicated stage time, direct coaching, and personalized feedback, enrollment for this session is capped.
