Stool Samples: Last Call for a Local Bar

World Premiere at The Bit Theater in Aurora, Illinois
April 11, 12, 18, and 19, 2026

Stool Samples: Last Call for a Local Bar makes its world premiere at The Bit Theater this April, bringing audiences into the final day and final night of the Little Inn, a neighborhood bar filled with history, humor, heartbreak, and the kind of people who leave dents in the furniture and fingerprints on your memory. The script centers on Pat, who tends bar while trying to hold together a room full of regulars, stories, and unresolved family gravity.

This new play by Patrick Stinson is intimate, funny, profane, and tender. It is about what happens when a local institution is about to disappear and everybody who loved it, used it, depended on it, or hid inside it shows up one last time. In the play, the closing of the bar is not just a business ending. To Pat, it is “ The Library of Alexandria burning down.”
